Agricultural production is a very complex system. It depends on several inter related components such development of appropriate production technology, dissemination of modern technology to the end users, and the formulation of farmer friendly agricultural policies. Dissemination of appropriate technology to the farmer’s is of vital importance if benefit is to be derived from technological advances moreover, the gap exists between the research findings and farmers’ adoption needs appropriate rectification by the adaptive research.

Introduction of integrated pest management and training of IPM to the farming community through practical demonstrations in their fields. Monitoring of pest development by pest scouting of all crop, Vegetables, Orchards etc. with special reference to Cotton, Rice Sguarcane, Grain, Maize, Oil Seed, Wheat, Mango, Citrus, Guava, Okra, Brinjal, Cucurbits & Potato etc
  11.  Directorate of Agriculture Information 1. To disseminate information about modern agricultural technology/cropping techniques through mass media i.e. print and electronic media for transfer of technology to the farmers. 2. To produce educative audio-visuals as aid for group communication. 3. Work as two-way channel of communication between various formations of Agriculture Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 4. To improve communication skills of professionals working in agriculture and allied departments. 5. To improve capabilities of research and extension workers
  12. Directorate of Agriculture Marketing The Agriculture Produce Markets Act. 1939 was promulgated on the recommendation of royal commission constituted by the British India Government during 1927. The sole-intention of the act was to regulate the Agri. Business so as to do away the evils and vices which ultimately tended to the deprivation of the grower from his fair return of his produce. The Market committees were re- established under the provisions of above said act which were assigned Nobel pursuit i.e. Safeguard the interest of grower.
  13. Directorate of Seed It is a newly established Directorate which inherited the mandate and function of defunct Agriculture Development Authority later on bestowed to Agriculture Extension with a name of Agriculture Development Fund. The Directorate is assigned following functions: Directorate of Seed is aimed at for systematic seed Production, Procurement, Processing & Marketing of major and minor crops seed on scientific lines. The prime objective of Directorate of Seed is to supply high quality seed on affordable rates thus to enhance overall per acre yield of the Province.
  14. Directorate of Horticulture Horticulture is a significant and upcoming sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Horticulture has proved to be the best diversification option for agricultural land use, because of assured and the remunerative returns to the farmers. The Department of Horticulture is responsible for the overall development of Horticulture in the province. The Department is adopting a definite policy for the development of Horticulture.Directorate of Horticulture functions under the Directorate General Agriculture Extension Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It has field offices in almost all District with Subject Matter Specialists Horticulture.
  15. Directorate of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Formulation and analysis of agricultural policies and programmes and assessment of impact on both producers and consumers; Review of sector policies and programmes; Coordination of sector programmes; Coordination of the preparation of Agriculture Extension Annual Plan and Development Budget; Facilitating the release of funds to Field Offices; Monitoring financial expenditures; Monitoring and Evaluation of agricultural sector programmes, projects and expenditures; Provision of technical support in project appraisal, mid-term and project completion evaluations of programmes and projects under the ministry; Dissemination of information

Directorate of Model Farm Services Centers The Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established 23 Model Farm Services Centers (MFSCS) in all the districts except Kohistan & Torghar. 1.Empowerment of the farming community by strengthening them through establishment of Model Farm Services Centers. 2.Equal and transparent facilities to all the members of Model Farm Services Centers. 3.Identification, prioritization and solution of the problems being initiated by the farming community within the available resources. 4.Establishment of a transparent and suitable system managed by the farmers / members themselves. 5.Establishment of linkages with Governmental and non Governmental organizations. 6.Exposing and enhancing hidden capabilities and potentials of the farming communities in their environments, including income-generating activities conducted by women organizations. 7.Availability of resources (Financial & Physical) to the Model Farm Services Centre members on sustainable and equitable basis. 8.Making the Model Farm Services Centers service oriented and non profit oriented organization.
